TLDR ZNF750 helps keep hair follicles healthy and prevents skin inflammation.
The study highlights the critical role of ZNF750 in maintaining upper hair follicle homeostasis and preventing inflammatory skin diseases. Using Zfp750-knockout mice, researchers found that the absence of Zfp750 leads to psoriasis-like inflammation, alopecia, and impaired barrier function due to increased expression of proinflammatory genes and pathways, such as Jak–STAT and PI3K–Akt. The knockout mice also showed increased immune cell infiltration and significant changes in gene expression related to key signaling pathways involved in psoriasis. These findings underscore the importance of ZNF750 in regulating skin barrier function and immune responses, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for inflammatory skin conditions.
