Autoimmune Thyroiditis, also known as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, is a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, leading to chronic inflammation and often resulting in hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). This can cause symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and depression, and is diagnosed through blood tests that detect thyroid antibodies and measure thyroid hormone levels.
