medication used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension
Sildenafil is a medication primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. It works by inhibiting an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which leads to the relaxation of blood vessels and increased blood flow to specific areas of the body. Commonly known by its brand name Viagra when used for erectile dysfunction, it is also marketed as Revatio for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension.
