research Dermal Adnexal Neoplasms: Exploring Rare Variants and Their Clinical Behavior

April 2026 in “International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology”
This study investigated 42 cases of skin adnexal tumors (SATs) at a tertiary care hospital, focusing on their clinicopathological features, anatomical distribution, and differentiation lineage. The most common tumors were follicular (42.9%), followed by sweat gland (40.5%) and sebaceous tumors (11.9%). Pilomatricoma was identified as the most frequent benign lesion, comprising 33.3% of cases. Rare malignant tumors included adenoid cystic carcinoma, eccrine mucinous carcinoma, and high-grade malignant trichilemmal tumor, with malignancies representing 7.1% of the cases. Histopathology was emphasized as essential for accurate diagnosis and prognosis due to the clinical similarities of SATs to other skin lesions.

It is considered an anti-androgen treatment, often used alongside other treatments like minoxidil and finasteride, but lacks independent studies to fully support its effectiveness.
