May 2026 in “Frontiers in Medicine” This pilot study evaluated a 2% salicylic acid keratolytic shampoo for early scab removal after follicular unit extraction (FUE) in 21 male patients. The shampoo effectively reduced scab severity without disrupting the skin barrier, as scab scores decreased significantly. Although erythema increased temporarily after washing, it was not linked to discomfort. Patient satisfaction was high, with 76.2% noting reduced scabs and 67% willing to recommend the product. No adverse events were reported, suggesting that this shampoo could enhance postoperative care and comfort in hair transplantation.
