Adrenalectomy is a surgical procedure to remove one or both of the adrenal glands, which are small glands located on top of each kidney. These glands produce hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, and aldosterone, which are crucial for regulating metabolism, immune response, blood pressure, and stress response. This surgery is typically performed to treat conditions like adrenal tumors, Cushing's syndrome, or pheochromocytoma.
