eyelid turns outward, exposing inner surface to irritation
Ectropion is a medical condition where the eyelid, usually the lower one, turns outward away from the eye. This can cause the inner surface of the eyelid to be exposed and prone to irritation, dryness, and infection. It often occurs due to aging, but can also result from trauma, scarring, or nerve damage. Treatment may involve lubricating eye drops or surgery to correct the eyelid position.
