phenomenon of facial skin injuries from prolonged PPE use
Gabrin Sign refers to the phenomenon where healthcare workers, particularly those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, develop pressure-related skin injuries on their faces from prolonged use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks and face shields. This term is named in honor of Dr. Frank Gabrin, the first U.S. emergency physician to die from COVID-19, who experienced these injuries while treating patients.
