Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to the overactivity of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism). It is characterized by symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, weight loss, and bulging eyes (exophthalmos). This condition is also known as Basedow's disease and can result in a goiter, which is an enlarged thyroid gland.
