Ozone, also known as O3 or trioxygen, is a molecule composed of three oxygen atoms. It is found in the Earth's stratosphere, where it forms the ozone layer that protects life by absorbing the majority of the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation. At ground level, however, ozone is a pollutant that can cause respiratory problems and other health issues.
