inflammation around hair follicles
Perifolliculitis is an inflammation of the skin surrounding hair follicles. This condition can cause redness, swelling, and sometimes pain or itching around the affected follicles. It can be triggered by infections, autoimmune reactions, or other skin conditions, and may lead to hair loss if not properly treated.
