set of guidelines for diagnosing polycystic ovary syndrome
The Rotterdam Criteria are a set of guidelines used to diagnose polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). To meet the criteria, a patient must have at least two of the following three features: irregular or absent menstrual periods, elevated levels of male hormones (androgens) or symptoms of high androgens like excess hair growth, and polycystic ovaries visible on an ultrasound. This diagnostic tool helps healthcare professionals identify and manage PCOS, which can affect fertility and overall health.
