Leukonychia, commonly known as white spots on the nails, refers to a condition where white discoloration appears on the nail plate. This can be caused by minor trauma to the nail matrix, nutritional deficiencies, or underlying health conditions. There are different types, including punctate leukonychia (small white dots) and total leukonychia (entire nail is white).
