    GlossaryPsoralen

naturally occurring compound that increases skin's sensitivity to UV light

Psoralen is a naturally occurring compound found in certain plants that makes the skin more sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light. It is often used in combination with UVA light therapy (PUVA) to treat skin conditions like psoriasis, vitiligo, and some types of alopecia. By intercalating into DNA, psoralen can help to slow down the rapid growth of skin cells or repigment the skin.
