August 2023 in “Journal of Investigative Dermatology” This study explores the potential of farudodstat, a DHODH inhibitor, as a treatment for alopecia areata (AA), an inflammatory disorder characterized by immune privilege (IP) collapse and hair loss. Using an innovative ex vivo model with human hair follicles (HFs), researchers stimulated T-cell activation to mimic AA conditions. The study found that farudodstat significantly reduced T-cell proliferation and MHC protein expression, indicating a protective effect against IP collapse without promoting catagen induction or affecting keratinocyte proliferation. These findings suggest that farudodstat could be a promising therapeutic option for AA by preventing IP collapse.
January 1992 in “Proceedings of the New Zealand Society of Animal Production” Ferret hair growth starts between 0 and 4 days after melatonin treatment, with cell growth peaking in the hair germ and declining as the hair matures.
