Recent studies have identified Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors as a promising treatment, effectively promoting hair regrowth by targeting cytokine pathways involved in AA. Clinical trials and case series have shown that JAK inhibitors, particularly baricitinib and deuruxolitinib, result in significant scalp hair regrowth with acceptable safety profiles. Common side effects include acne and elevated lipid levels, but long-term safety data are still needed. Further research is necessary to determine optimal dosing, treatment duration, and long-term safety of JAK inhibitors in AA management.
