This prospective study involving 194 patients who underwent hair transplantation identified independent risk factors for posttransplant telogen effluvium (PTE). The study found that age over 65, a diagnosis of androgenetic alopecia (AGA), high levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) over 80 U/L, low levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) at or below 400 ng/mL, and high levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are significant risk factors for PTE. These findings emphasize the importance of follicular injury and activity indicators in the incidence of PTE, providing essential insights for optimizing surgical strategies and developing new treatments to reduce PTE risk.
