    Spermatozoa, commonly known as sperm cells, are the male reproductive cells responsible for fertilizing the female egg (ovum) during sexual reproduction. Each spermatozoon is highly specialized, featuring a head that contains genetic material (DNA), a midpiece packed with energy-producing mitochondria, and a tail (flagellum) that propels the cell forward.
