Urticaria, commonly known as hives, is a skin condition characterized by red, itchy welts that can vary in size and appear anywhere on the body. These welts are often caused by an allergic reaction, but can also result from stress, infections, or other triggers. The condition is typically acute, lasting less than six weeks, but can become chronic if it persists longer.
