research Production of ultraviolet-light-induced skin erythema in the hairless rat: a comparison with the haired rat in screening for anti-inflammatory drugs
Hairless rats are good for testing anti-inflammatory drugs, similar to haired rats, without needing to remove fur.
research Mechanically Robust MXene‐Metal Polyphenol Network Hybrid Interfaces for Multifunctional Protection of Keratin Fibers
This study presents a novel coating for hair keratin fibers using delaminated Ti3C2 MXene nano-sheets combined with metal-polyphenol networks (MPN) made from multivalent metal cations and tea catechin, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). The coating provides multifunctional protection, including UV screening, rapid thermal dissipation, enhanced mechanical strength, reduced charge accumulation, and sustained antioxidation activity. Additionally, it restores the wettability of human keratin fibers. This robust and bio-compatible coating method offers a significant improvement over conventional haircare products and can be applied to other 2D nanomaterials for bio-interface protection.

5 / 1000+ resultscommunity Evolution theory: AGA is your body trying to reduce the risk of prostate cancer by exposing your scalp to more UV
Androgenic alopecia (AGA) might have evolved to reduce prostate cancer risk by increasing UV exposure to the scalp, but this theory is debated. Treatments like minoxidil and finasteride are used for AGA, though the exact causes and evolutionary reasons for hair loss are unclear.
community I’ve been on medications for 5 months now
A user has been using minoxidil, finasteride, derma stamping, and keto shampoo for hair loss for 5 months, noticing baby hairs but no thickening. Another user suggests trying topical magnesium chloride with UV light as an additional treatment.
community Comparison of options: topical vs medication
A user diagnosed with AGA is seeking advice on hair loss treatments, comparing topical Minoxidil, Spironolactone, and Finasteride to oral medications and natural methods like dermastamping, PRP, and LED light. They are concerned about side effects and effectiveness, especially given their existing fatigue.
community Making the jump to hair systems
19-year-old with Lichen Planopilaris tried various treatments unsuccessfully. Now considering hair systems, seeking experiences and opinions.
community Reducing Fibrosis in Hair Loss: Topical Pirfenidone
Topical pirfenidone is highlighted as an effective anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic treatment for hair loss, particularly in addressing perifollicular fibrosis, which may enhance the effectiveness of standard treatments like finasteride and minoxidil. The user also uses calcipotriol, MCT oil, ciclopirox shampoo, and benzoyl peroxide shampoo as part of their regimen.
