TLDR Anabolic-androgenic steroids increase the risk of heart problems.
Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) use is linked to increased cardiovascular risk and events, including vascular calcification, atherosclerosis, hypertension, left ventricular hypertrophy, impaired cardiac function, arrhythmias, and myocardial infarction. While there is evidence of these associations, some effects require further research. Understanding the impact of AAS can aid in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies.
