Association Between Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Gene Insertion Deletion Polymorphism and Androgenetic Alopecia Susceptibility Among Egyptian Patients: A Preliminary Case-Controlled Study

    This preliminary case-controlled study investigated the association between angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) susceptibility among Egyptian patients. The study included 100 AGA patients and 100 healthy controls. Results indicated that the DD and ID genotypes, as well as the D allele, were more frequently distributed among AGA patients compared to controls, with statistical significance (p < 0.05). The study concluded that the ACE gene I/D polymorphism, along with a positive family history, could serve as predictors of AGA susceptibility, suggesting a genetic contribution to the development of AGA in the studied population.
