TLDR Certain gene variations and low adiponectin levels may increase the risk of hair loss in Egyptians.
The study suggests that the ADIPOQ (rs2241766) gene polymorphism, specifically the TG genotype and G allele, may influence the risk and development of alopecia areata (AA) in Egyptian populations. Additionally, lower levels of circulating adiponectin are implicated in the etiopathogenesis of AA and could serve as a marker for the severity of hair loss in affected individuals.
