Acne is a prevalent issue for transgender men during their transition, affecting about 1 in 3 individuals, with severe cases in about 1 in 3 of those affected, particularly among those receiving testosterone. While there are no specific acne management guidelines for transgender patients, treatment generally mirrors that for cisgender individuals. However, prescribing isotretinoin requires careful consideration of the patient's genital anatomy and sexual practices. Despite testosterone therapy and amenorrhea, transgender men with native female reproductive organs still face pregnancy risks, necessitating contraception and regular pregnancy testing.
