TLDR Acne can be treated but may cause emotional distress and mental health issues.
The article discussed acne vulgaris (AV), a common long-term skin disease characterized by clogged hair follicles, oily skin, and potential scarring. It highlighted that acne is primarily triggered by Propionibacterium acnes during adolescence due to hormonal changes. Sebum production, influenced by age and hormonal levels, plays a crucial role in acne development. While acne cannot be prevented or cured, it can be effectively treated. The condition often causes emotional distress, impacting self-image and potentially leading to mental health issues like depression and anxiety. However, these psychological effects were not linked to oxidative stress.
