TLDR Combining platelet-rich plasma with other treatments may improve hair growth in androgenetic alopecia.
This retrospective study evaluated the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) combined with systemic therapies on androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 55 patients. The study compared PRP monotherapy with PRP plus systemic treatments like low-dose oral minoxidil, spironolactone, finasteride, or dutasteride. Results indicated that combination therapy led to greater improvements in hair density and width compared to monotherapy, although these differences were not statistically significant. Notably, patients with moderate AGA experienced significantly greater density improvements. The study suggests that combination therapy may be beneficial and highlights the need for further research to refine treatment strategies based on AGA severity.
