    Drug repurposing is an efficient, cost-effective strategy that identifies new uses for existing drugs, leveraging their known safety profiles and pharmacokinetics. This approach utilizes in silico computational and activity-based experimental methods to better understand disease mechanisms and identify repurposed drug candidates, enhancing personalized pharmacotherapy. The review discusses publicly available databases and various approaches for drug repositioning, emphasizing their characteristics and the need for future advancements in this field. This method reduces the risk of failure and increases the therapeutic value and success rate of drugs.
