This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed the effectiveness of combining aesthetic therapeutic resources, such as essential oils and photobiomodulation, with conventional medications for treating male pattern androgenetic alopecia. The study included four studies with a total of 53 participants. The results showed no significant differences in hair density and diameter between the groups receiving combined treatments and those receiving only conventional medications. The evidence was deemed to have a high risk of bias and low quality, indicating that the addition of aesthetic therapies does not provide additional benefits for treating androgenetic alopecia. More high-quality research is needed to confirm these findings.

Key treatments for hair preservation include minoxidil, finasteride/dutasteride, and microneedling, with additional options like specific shampoos, oils, biotin, zinc, tretinoin, clascoterone, and low-level laser therapy. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing stress, and addressing nutrient deficiencies can also support hair health.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.
