Alopecia areata, anxiety and depression: Are they related? A systematic review

    This systematic review investigated the relationship between alopecia areata (AA) and mental disorders, specifically anxiety and depression. Analyzing data from 8 studies involving 6,398 patients with AA, the review found a high prevalence of psychiatric illnesses among these patients. The study concluded that individuals with AA experience higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to healthy controls.
