TLDR People with hair loss are more likely to have anxiety.
This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the relationship between hair loss and anxiety disorders, analyzing data from 24 studies with 5,553 participants. It found a significant association between alopecia, particularly alopecia areata (AA), and anxiety disorders, with 47% of individuals with hair loss experiencing anxiety. The study highlighted that anxiety symptoms are prevalent among patients with AA, with rates ranging from mild to severe. The findings emphasize the need for psychological evaluations and therapies for individuals with hair loss due to the substantial psychological burden associated with alopecia. Limitations include reliance on observational studies and heterogeneity in sample sizes and anxiety measurement tools.
