TLDR People with alopecia areata face challenges but find ways to cope and live fulfilling lives.
The study aimed to describe the impact of hair loss on the daily lives of individuals with alopecia areata (AA) and involved 246 participants over 18 years old. Using a qualitative research design, the study identified four main themes: fear of hair replacement falling off, obstacles in professional work, tolerance towards lack of understanding, and acceptance of hair loss. The study concludes that while daily life with AA involves living with a visibly altered appearance, individuals find various ways to navigate and realize opportunities despite the challenges.
