Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease characterized by premature transition of hair growth from the anagen phase to the catagen, telogen, and exogen phases, leading to hair loss. This review discusses the pathophysiology of alopecia areata and evaluates current treatments, highlighting the potential of herbal remedies as an alternative to allopathic treatments. The paper suggests that herbal plants may offer promising therapeutic benefits for managing alopecia areata, although further research is needed to fully understand their efficacy and mechanisms.
