TLDR A rare combination of hair loss and excessive fine hair growth was found in celiac disease patients.
This document reports on two cases of alopecia areata (AA) in individuals with celiac disease (CD), with one case also presenting with acquired hypertrichosis lanuginosa (AHL), a rare phenomenon. Celiac disease is an immune-related disorder triggered by gluten intolerance, often accompanied by extraintestinal manifestations, including skin conditions like AA and AHL. The combination of AA and AHL in a patient with CD is potentially the first of its kind documented in the literature, highlighting a unique intersection of these conditions.
