TLDR Alopecia patients in Hebei, China, have poor knowledge and negative attitudes but take proactive steps to manage the condition.
The study conducted among 545 alopecia patients in Hebei, China, found that while patients generally have poor knowledge and negative attitudes towards alopecia, they engage in proactive practices to manage the condition. Knowledge was shown to significantly influence both attitude and practice, with higher knowledge correlating with better attitudes and more proactive practices. Factors such as age, history of COVID-19, and medications causing hair loss impacted knowledge levels. The study suggests that educational interventions could improve patient outcomes by addressing knowledge gaps and misconceptions, such as the belief that COVID-19 directly causes hair loss. Limitations include the study's single-center design and reliance on self-reported data, suggesting the need for larger, multicenter studies in the future.

Some suggest trying rosemary oil alongside other treatments, while others emphasize the difference between the extract used in the study and the oil.

Kitchen_Plastic_2847 had been fighting hair loss since 2019-2020 and was initially successful in regrowing his hair with finasteride. However, after contracting Covid three times back to back at the start of 2021, he started to lose his hair again. He found a new dermatologist who prescribed him oral minoxidil along with finasteride, but eventually decided it wasn't worth spending all the money to try and save his hair.

A person with hair loss since COVID-19 is considering treatments like finasteride and minoxidil but is hesitant due to potential side effects. Suggestions include visiting a dermatologist, using a ketoconazole shampoo, and considering that post-COVID hair loss might be an autoimmune response.
