Anti-Mullerian Hormone as a New Marker for Diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

The study assessed the accuracy of Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) as a diagnostic marker for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in a retrospective study involving 130 women, with 100 diagnosed with PCOS and 30 as controls. Results indicated that AMH levels were significantly higher in PCOS patients compared to controls, with a sensitivity of 98%, specificity of 80%, and total accuracy of 93% at a cutoff point of 0.911. The study concluded that AMH is a reliable, objective, and quantitative marker for diagnosing PCOS, unaffected by menstrual cycle timing or oral contraceptive use, suggesting the need for further studies to validate its diagnostic role.
