TLDR A balanced mix of cationic guar gum and anionic surfactants improves hair conditioning and protection.
The study investigates the impact of anionic surfactants on coacervate formation with cationic guar gum (CGG) for hair care applications. Using four anionic surfactants, the research found that a balanced ratio of 0.5% CGG to 0.5% surfactant produced the most stable and effective coacervates. These coacervates demonstrated superior adhesion and coverage on damaged hair fibers, suggesting enhanced conditioning effects. Spectroscopic and thermal analyses confirmed that balanced CGG/surfactant ratios facilitated stronger interactions and improved stability. The findings highlight the potential of this formulation as an effective conditioning and protective system for hair care, offering improved performance and long-term benefits.
