TLDR A peptide from fermented Trapa japonica fruit may help reduce skin aging.
The study explored the antiaging effects of a peptide derived from fermented Trapa japonica fruit extract on human dermal fibroblasts and involved a clinical trial with 22 women aged 41 to 57. Participants applied an eye cream with 0.5% of the peptide for 8 weeks, resulting in significant improvements in skin roughness and smoothness. The peptide enhanced collagen synthesis, reduced matrix metalloproteinase expression, and promoted wound healing, indicating its potential as an effective antiaging agent. However, further studies with larger sample sizes were recommended to better understand its molecular mechanisms and improve efficacy.
