    Hamza Yıldız, Serkan Zincir
TLDR Patients with Alopecia Areata often have higher anxiety and depression.
This study examined the prevalence of depression and anxiety in 171 participants, including 86 with alopecia areata (AA) and 85 healthy controls, in Eskisehir, Turkey. Findings revealed that 30.2% of AA patients experienced depression compared to 5.9% of controls, and 19.8% of AA patients had anxiety versus 7.1% of controls, both statistically significant. The study underscores the need for dermatologists to consider psychiatric conditions in AA patients to enhance their quality of life. Limitations include a small sample size and lack of structured psychiatric evaluations.
