Assessment of Human Nuclear Factor Erythroid 2 Related Factor 2 (NRF2) in Androgenetic Alopecia in Egyptian Men

    TLDR Changes in NRF2 levels may contribute to hair loss in Egyptian men.
    The study assessed the expression of Nuclear Factor Erythroid 2 Related Factor 2 (NRF2) in the scalps of 28 Egyptian men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) compared to 28 age-matched healthy controls. The results indicated that alterations in NRF2 levels might play a significant role in the pathogenesis of AGA. The study highlighted that most AGA patients had a positive family history of the condition, and none had systemic diseases like diabetes or hypertension. This suggests a potential genetic and molecular basis for AGA involving NRF2.
