TLDR The new nanofiber patch speeds up diabetic wound healing and improves healing quality.
The study explores the use of electrospun radially oriented berberine-PHBV nanofiber dressing patches to enhance diabetic wound healing. These patches, which incorporate berberine for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, significantly accelerated wound healing in diabetic mice, achieving 100% wound closure in 18 days. The radially oriented nanofibers improved mechanical properties and biological functions, promoting cell adhesion, proliferation, and angiogenesis. The PHBV-Radially + 5%Beri group showed the highest wound healing rate and regeneration of hair follicles. This innovative dressing material shows promise for improving wound care in diabetic patients due to its favorable mechanical properties and enhanced healing effects.
