Berberine (BBR)-based delivery systems show significant potential in enhancing wound healing, particularly for acute, diabetic, infected, and burned wounds. These systems, including hydrogels, nanoparticles, and nanofibers, improve BBR's bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy by providing controlled and sustained release, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, and promoting cell proliferation and wound closure. They exhibit strong antibacterial properties against pathogens like S. aureus and E. coli, and are especially beneficial for diabetic wounds by promoting angiogenesis and tissue regeneration. Despite challenges such as stability and clinical validation, these advanced delivery systems offer promising prospects for clinical applications in wound management.
