Biomedical applications of Janus membrane

Janus membranes, inspired by the lotus leaf, featured a dual-faced structure with opposite properties, allowing for asymmetric surface wettability and unidirectional liquid transport. While they were widely used in chemical applications like self-cleaning and desalination, their potential in the biomedical field was less explored. This review discussed their applications in wound healing, hemostasis, bone regeneration, blood cell isolation, and gastric mucosal defect treatment. Despite challenges in fabrication, Janus membranes were expected to offer promising therapeutic prospects in biomedical applications.
