TLDR Different tissues in cows have different types of cytokeratins.
The study examined cytokeratin expression in various freshly fixed bovine epithelia using the ABC immunoperoxidase method with specific monoclonal antibodies. It found that hair follicles and nasolabial glands expressed both small acidic and large basic cytokeratins, whereas epidermal cells, sebaceous glands, and mucosae contained only large basic cytokeratins, and the mammary gland contained only small acidic cytokeratins. These findings were compared with previous reports from human and bovine cell cultures.
