TLDR CD200- cells in hair follicles have a higher ability to regenerate hair.
This study explores the regenerative potential of CD200- subpopulations within the human hair follicle bulge, traditionally known for its epithelial stem cells. By examining CD200- and KRT15-expressing cells through phenotypic characterization, transcriptomic profiling, and in vivo assays, researchers found that CD200- cells demonstrated a higher capacity for hair regeneration. The findings suggest that reduced CD200 expression correlates with enhanced regenerative abilities, offering new insights into optimizing hair follicle regeneration strategies using bulge cell-based approaches.
