Regenerative Potential of CD200- Subpopulations of Hair Follicle Bulge

    This study explores the regenerative potential of CD200- subpopulations of hair follicle bulge cells, which are typically characterized by CD200 expression. By examining CD200- and KRT15-expressing cells through phenotypic characterization, transcriptomic profiling, and in vivo hair regeneration assays, the research found that CD200- cells from freshly isolated human hair follicle bulge have a higher capability for hair regeneration. The study also observed that reduced CD200 expression correlates with increased hair regenerative capability in cultured hair follicle bulge cells. These findings enhance the understanding of CD200-defined bulge heterogeneity and offer insights for improving human bulge cell-based hair follicle regeneration approaches.
