TLDR Financial support and better counseling are needed to make chemotherapy more affordable and manageable for women in Pakistan.
This qualitative study explored the challenges faced by 40 post-chemotherapy females in Pakistan, revealing significant physical, psychological, economic, and informational difficulties. Common side effects included hair loss, darkened nails, and mouth sores. Most participants were married, unemployed, and had low family income, which exacerbated the economic strain of treatment. Coping strategies such as alternative treatments and support from friends and family were crucial. The study concludes that financial support programs and government interventions are necessary to make chemotherapy more affordable, and healthcare professionals should counsel patients about potential side effects to improve outcomes.
