TLDR Leukemia should be considered in teens with unexplained bleeding.
This case report discusses a 17-year-old female who presented with unusual vaginal bleeding, weight loss, and hair loss, leading to the diagnosis of Philadelphia chromosome-positive B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ B-ALL). Laboratory tests revealed leukocytosis, anemia, and thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow analysis confirmed B-ALL with the BCR-ABL p190 transcript. The patient was treated with the BFM-ALL 2009 chemotherapy protocol and dasatinib. This case underscores the importance of considering leukemia in adolescents with unexplained bleeding and cytopenias, contributing to the limited literature on atypical presentations of Ph+ B-ALL.

Hair loss is linked to scalp fibrosis and tension, which result from chronic mechanical stress and androgenic signaling. Treatments include blocking androgens with finasteride, promoting hair growth with topical minoxidil, and improving scalp mobility through exercises.
