TLDR Coconut oil helps heal skin lesions in dogs with atopic dermatitis.
This study investigated the effects of coconut oil on macroscopic skin lesions in five Balinese local breed dogs with atopic dermatitis. Over 33 days, the dogs received coconut oil massages every three days. The results showed significant healing, with improvements in pruritus, erythema, and other skin conditions, as well as hair regrowth in alopecia-affected areas. Statistical analysis confirmed these findings, indicating that coconut oil is effective in treating macroscopic lesions in dogs with atopic dermatitis.
