TLDR Combining cryotherapy with steroids reduces keloid size more effectively than steroids alone.
The study compared the effectiveness of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (IL TAC) alone versus in combination with cryotherapy for treating keloids. Conducted at Thomas Jefferson University between 2019 and 2021, it found that both treatments significantly reduced pruritus and pain, with no significant difference between the two groups. However, combination therapy was more effective in reducing keloid size, with a greater percentage of keloids showing more than a 50% size reduction compared to IL TAC alone. This effect was particularly notable in pubic keloids, where combination therapy showed remarkable results.
