TLDR More lesions mean more severe alopecia areata.
The study conducted at Suez Canal University Hospital in Egypt assessed the severity of alopecia areata (AA) in 29 patients (10 females, 19 males) using the SALT score. The average age was 22.4 years, and most patients presented with patchy alopecia areata. Results showed a strong positive correlation between the number of lesions and disease severity, and moderate positive correlations between the age of onset and the duration of the disease episode, as well as between age and episode duration. Males were more commonly affected, and the findings highlight the relationship between lesion count and AA severity.
